Gaffey Street Diner |
"Gaffey Street Special"
Boneless BBQ Pork"

"Gaffey Street Diner"
My AM saw this restaurant on FoodNetwork a while ago. Guy on "Guy's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives"came to this place in April and was aired a few months ago. AM wanted to go check it out while she was in town. So we did.
The outside looked a bit iffy to me, but it looked much nicer and cleaner inside than what I had expected.
Their specialty was breakfast, so I decided to go with one of their egg specialties. Then, I saw "Gaffey Street Special" which had the same name as the restaurant's, so I immediately decided on this dish.
It was an omelette with homemade chorizo and cheese, topped with guacamole. I made a small burrito with a tortilla with some salsa. I never had chorizo before, but it was pretty good.
My AM chose their today's special, "Boneless BBQ Pork." I thought the sauce was a bit on the sweet side but liked the very tender pork. I would have liked it much better if I had some white rice to go with it.
The FM went with "John Wayne Breakfast." It had some potatoes, 2 eggs with Spanish sauce.
The amount of food was a bit bigger than what I'm used to. I had to bring more than 1/2 of mine home. You can totally share one dish with someone. It was good food, but I think that the diner food is diner food. It is far from gourmet food. I'm not sure if I go back there anytime soon.
By the way, Guy tried their French toast and Chile Verde.
