"Isla Mujeres: Part 2"
This lighthouse was located at the south end of the island. The view from the top was magnificent!
JB had started to complain about the heat by the time we got to this area. I also knew that he was very tired from traveling on the plane the day before. But that could not stop us (or me) from exploring further! I pretty much druged the poor child down to the end of the peninsula to see the "Ruina de Maya." On the way down there, there were several strange objects. I didn't think that they did anything to beautify the area or anything.... Very strange. But this one came in handy for the kids to sit down and take a break for another picture.
The ruin itself was not impressive at all after seeing the famous Chitzen Izu and Tuluum. But the view of the ocean from there was breathtaking.
Before hitting the road, we did enjoy some shopping by the lighthouse. There were several vendors selling Mexican craft goods. What I liked the most was the pottery. Just loved those colors! They scream Mexican! I loved them but coudn't see how they would work in my current deco style back at home. So, after talking to this nice Mexican guy, I decided to purchase a salsa bowl. It would be fun to have whenever I get in the mood for good Mexican food!
